In January 2018 I was feeling very unwell and a routine blood test gave me the diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes. I was given helpful advice about diet and exercise but struggled to find the motivation to do more than my weekly yoga class. An invitation to a seated exercise class at the Windrush Health Centre changed everything and I enjoyed the activity and the company, a year later I still attend every week. Jenny, the Get Active organiser, told us about a weekly organised walk being started at the Nuffield Health Centre so I was there at the first outing in April and still enjoy the exercise and the company of a new group of people.

I was losing weight and feeling much fitter when, again, Jenny gave me details of a mindfulness 6 week course organised by Mind. Part of each session was a Zumba class which was new to me and thoroughly enjoyable. The instructor told me about a weekly session held in the Masonic Hall and I joined this in September. It is brilliant exercise and so good for lifting the spirits

Now it is January 2019 and my life has been totally transformed. I have lost 35lbs and can walk longer distances at a quicker pace. None of this would have happened without the intervention of Jenny and Get Active, the support and encouragement is invaluable as is the extensive signposting to other opportunities. Thank you Jenny, you helped me turn my life around.
